About The Event

Come begin your water colour adventure through a series of focused exercises, demonstrations and compositions. We will explore the fundamentals of paper choice, brushes, paint, colour palettes, washes, resist techniques, brushwork and how to apply them to your work. No experience necessary, but always helpful. If you have taken the single intro class, this is the continuation of the instruction that we began, yet all are welcome.

You will need to provide your own supplies for this six week class. The following is a suggested list:

  • Paper: 9”x12” WC paper pad 140lb cold press, 20+ sheets/pad (Fabriano, Deserres, Canson, etc)
  • Paint (tubes preferred): permanent yellow, yellow ochre, permanent red, alizarin, thalo blue, ultramarine blue, Paynes grey, raw umber. Optional: sap green, dioxazine violet, cerulean blue. You can buy individual tubes or paint sets, which may have a slightly different set of colours. Or if you have a set of WC pans, bring those and don’t buy tubes.
  • Brushes: a range of soft nylon brushes in Rounds & Flats, sizes #4-12  (Oriental style sets @ Dollarama are a good place to start)
  • Round WC palette or a ceramic plate
  • Painter’s tape 1-1.5” wide
  • Mechanical pencil + fine black permanent marker
  • Printer’s Corner in Blockhouse has a good selection at reasonable prices, otherwise, it is worth driving into Halifax to Deserres on Barrington to get the best prices. (Michael’s is handy, but very expensive…)

This class runs for 6 weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 8:30pm. Registration Required.
