About The Event
This workshop will focus on introducing traditional bookbinding techniques and the basic tools of the trade. Participants will undertake several introductory projects and have at least four finished books to take home. Tools and materials will be provided with the exception of the following: Pencil, Scissors, Cutting Mat.
Skill level: Suitable for beginners or folks with some previous experience who are interested in a refresher.
About Your Instructor:
Rhonda Miller is a bookbinder and book artist with over twenty years experience and she has an undying fascination with book structure and historical bookbinding. She does custom bookbinding, book repair and restoration, and paper marbling. While earning her Masters of Library and Information Studies degree, she studied bookbinding at the Dawson Printshop at Dalhousie University. Later, she continued to learn through a variety of workshops and courses such as the Paper and Book Intensive.
Rhonda is owner and operator of MyHandboundBooks Studio and Scotia Bookbinding in Halifax and she is one of the founding members of the Nova Scotia Book Arts Group.
